Hi Mat, I recently bought a Canon HV40 and to be honest I haven't got a clue what I'm doing until I came across your posts on youtube, which have helped guide me alot, at the moment I'm trying to order a Matte Box from The Cine City, if possible could you tell me which Matte Box is in your review? is it the "80mm Matte box with French flag for DV and HDV cameras Normal camera" or the "95mm Wide angle Matte box mattebox + French flag for all DV HDV DSLR Cams ( Free Adapter ring)" Really appreciate the feedback. Thanks, D' Ryan

Hi Mat,

I have been poking around on your site for a while and find it most interesting. I shall think of buying you that beer sometime soon :-)

I am based in India and have been looking high and low for - no surprises here - cheap gear. Well, at least until I get obscenely rich and don't mind paying out in the 1000s for similar gear. In fact, that is how I found filmsensei.com.

I just thought I'll add a bit on interesting info on your Cine City posts. They will ship anywhere but to India! I did manage to call one of their numbers and speak to someone, who politely said that they wouldn't take any orders from India. I thought I'd be clever and offered to order outside India and request the items to be shipped to India. That too was a no-no. No orders from or to India.

I guess I'll have to order and get it shipped to the US and then back to India if I really really need the gear. Of course, this is what we smartasses (actually not that smart, just desperate) usually do - get one of those innumerable techie friends in the US to buy and then bring it over in person.

So, to sum for anyone else reading this:
No orders from or to India. If you're in India, it is a no go.

Thanks again and lovely stuff by way of information, Mat!

Hey Mat,

Excellent review of the filmmaking equipments. I'm an aspiring filmmaker myself. I recently bought a SONY HDR SR-10 camcorder. So am looking for the accessories and part that I can add on the camera to get ready for my ametuer shooting. I liked the matte box that you ordered from India. What is the model and specification of that matte box? And how did you contact them. Can you give me their email or phone number? I want to contact them directly.

Thanks for all the information that you post online for FREE. You're great.

I have a question, I have been looking at the matte box on their website, I was wondering if you purchased the regular matte box or the wide angle matte box. If you did purchase the regular one, how does it work with a wide angle lens?

Thanks

Just what I'm looking for!

I'm looking for a reasonable way to rig up our new HDV camcorders but prices of the big names are just way up there!

Have you tried their DOF adapter?

Thanks.
